Visibility of content

By:

WordPress allows us to control who can see the content of posts and pages. By default, all posts and pages are Public, ie visible. But a post or page can be set to Password Protected or Private.

Password Protected content is not immediately visible to the outside world; it is accessible only by people who have logged into the website. Visitors who are not logged in will see a prompt similar to this, where the title of the protected entry is shown along with a password prompt.:

Private content is visible only to people who are logged in with the permission level of Editor or Administrator. Normal users and visitors will not be aware of private content. It will not appear in the article lists. If a visitor were to guess the URL for the private post, they would still not be able to see its content.
