Thorverton church is open daily 9:00am to 4:00pm
A warm welcome awaits you!
Bubble Church is coming to Thorverton! Please join us for our first Bubble Church on Sun 17th Dec. For under 7s and their families. Arrive 9:00-9:15 for breakfast, or join us at 9:30 for the main event.
The largest and by far the oldest building in the parish, the Church overlooks the former Saxon ‘burgh’ and later market place now known as ‘the Berry’ or ‘Bury’. The Church is dedicated to Thomas Becket, the 12th century archbishop who was murdered in his cathedral church.

Choir & Instrumental Groups

We have a church choir of 15 or so members who enjoy singing music from many ages and of many styles. This includes canticles, psalms and responses at services such as Evensong and Mattins, anthems in four parts and hymns at regular Sunday morning communion and informal services, as well as worship songs, spirituals, rounds and music from Taizé.
We sing at a morning service usually twice a month and occasionally at weddings and funerals when invited. Membership is open to anyone – there are no auditions. The choir practises on Thursday evenings at Thorverton Church. We are always happy to welcome new singers. Just before Christmas, extra singers often join the choir for our Service of Lessons and Carols.
Our church instrumental group plays at most informal services and some special services such as baptisms. Again, there are no auditions. We have instrumentalists of all ages. We usually practise just before each service. New members are always welcome – all types of instruments included.
