Welcome to St John the Baptist Church, Netherexe, EX5 4DZ

No fantastic stained glass windows.  No magnificent screens.  No electricity, gas or water. Just a simple stone church set in the midst of fields close to the banks of the River Exe.  Lit by candles, heated by the warmth of its congregation.

The footpaths and bridleways which converge on it are a testimony to its importance to the generations who have worshipped here. An Anglo-Saxon church is mentioned in the Doomsday Book although the present building is late C15th.  It was renovated around 1890. More recent renovation work on the church was completed in 2008.

A short leaflet giving more information about the history of the church with internal photographs is available if you click here. The trifold leaflet (pdf format) is designed to be printed double sided on A4 paper.

A booklet containing the full history of the church, a guide to the memorials, a short history of Netherexe, visitor information etc is available if you click here. The booklet is in pdf format and is 12 pages in length.
