Brampford Speke Parish Church

Welcome to the Parish Church of St Peter, Brampford Speke, EX5 5DR

There has been a church at Brampford Speke for at least 900 years, located on the red sandstone cliff overlooking the River Exe. The church tower was built in the 1400’s and would have been as familiar a landmark to people living 500 years ago as it is today. More information about the church (including interior photographs) is available as an Adobe pdf file,  A great deal of information about the Revd George Cornelius Gorham, vicar of the parish from 1851 to 1857, can be found on Wikipedia

As part of the Netherexe Mission Community we are committed to maintaining a worshipping, witnessing community in our parish and to making the gospel known to people of all ages and backgrounds. The church is open throughout the day and visitors are most welcome.

St Peters week 2017

During St Peters week at the end of June 2017, the parishioners of Brampford Speke enjoyed a range of social and worship activities.

The week started on Sunday with the ‘walking’ of the millennium spear from Upton Pyne to Brampford Speke.  This was followed by a game of Rounders and an enjoyable day was finished off with a BBQ.

On Wednesday some of the residents opened their indoor swimming pool to all comers whilst on Thursday there was a well attended coffee morning.

During the week there was a Garden in a Boot Competition for which there were 30 entries, all making a fine display throughout the village for the seven days of this event.

On the final day there was a special service held in the Church to mark the end of the event, at which the bells were rung, the choir sang and the winners of the Boot Competition were presented with their prizes.

Events held during this special week raised £720 for the Church funds.

Photographs from the event (with thanks to John Sanders) can be viewed by clicking here
