East Devon Arts Festival 15th to 19th May 2018

We are looking forward to May when we will welcome exhibitors and visitors to our annual Arts Festival here in Thorverton. We will see many old friends and, we hope, some new ones.

Each year there are surprises and fresh ideas. Our beautiful old church undergoes its yearly metamorphosis to become an art gallery. Hundreds of paintings and a great variety of craft work such as jewellery, pottery, decorated lampshades, flower pots, boxes, trays, glass work, door stops, bags, lavender products, clocks, mirrors, clothes, scarves, aprons, turned wood, wooden and soft toys, patchwork, even furniture- something for everyone! Many visitors go away with something to hang on their wall, a beautifully made piece of craft, ornamental or practical, for themselves or a gift. It’s amazing how inventive people can be and what they can make things out of! The range, value and quality of greetings cards for all occasions are always appreciated. And while you browse you can enjoy the beautiful flower arrangements which decorate the church and buy a draw ticket in hope of winning a magnificent cake.

The event is a fantastic community effort. Thorvertonians and people from further afield work extremely hard but really enjoy the week and the efforts needed before and after; all to raise funds to help with the running costs of Thorverton Church.

And if you find yourself in need of some refreshment and a sit down then we’ve thought of that too. The vestry is transformed into a café with refreshments served all day. All of the money raised by the refreshments goes to church funds.

We look forward to seeing you. Please bear in mind that the church does not benefit from modern communication and therefore we can only accept cash or cheque for your purchases.

Arranging a wedding in church

Many couples choose to get married* in Church because they believe in God and they want their vows to be said in his presence and in the context of Christian worship. We encourage you to contact us as soon as you can, so that we may discuss this with you.

Click here for a pdf (trifold) copy of our Mission Community leaflet about weddings.

* If you would like to discuss the possibility of being married in one of the Netherexe Parishes churches please contact Revd Sue Sheppard on 01392 861022
